The Aquatic warbler is at risk of extinction.

There are approximately only 8,000 singing males left in the world.

Nature conservationists from across Europe and other countries are working to save this species and its unique habitats – wetlands.

About the species

Aquatic Warblers now are

in their breeding grounds, and the first brood is now strong enough to escape early mowing. This marks a hopeful milestone in the season—timely conservation efforts make all the difference for these vulnerable chicks.

New Aquatic Warbler conservation project “LIFE4AquaticWarbler”: the last hope to save this bird species

From 2024 to 2033, a nine-year project spanning almost the entire breeding range of the species and bringing together top experts in the field is being implemented in Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Ukraine, and Hungary.
